Frequently Asked Questions

The native Web Eyedropper API is currently supported on Chromium-based browsers (like Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Opera) on desktop. If you are using Safari, Firefox, or a mobile device, the button is hidden, and you can use the standard color picker box instead to manually select your colors.

While HEX, RGB, and HSL are designed for digital screens (using light), CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (Black). It is the standard color model used for physical ink printing. Use our CMYK values if you are designing assets like flyers, business cards, or posters that will be printed.

Our tool calculates the relative luminance of your chosen background color. Based on web accessibility guidelines, it highlights whether white or black text provides the best readability. This helps you design accessible websites that are easy for everyone to read.

You don't have to do anything manually! Every time you pick a new color, it is automatically added to your "Recent Colors" history panel. This history is saved in your browser's local storage, meaning your colors will still be there even if you close the tab and return later.

Complementary colors are opposite each other on the color wheel (great for high contrast). Analogous colors sit next to each other on the wheel (creating a calm, matching look). Triadic colors are evenly spaced around the wheel (offering a vibrant, balanced contrast).

Yes! The color picking, conversions, and history saving are all performed locally inside your browser using JavaScript. No data about the colors you pick or the screen elements you click is ever uploaded to our servers.
